Real Madrid will play at home in its stadium after the Government of Spain lifted the entry restrictions for passengers from the United Kingdom.

 

Real Madrid vs. Liverpool, corresponding to the first leg of the Champions League quarterfinals, can be played at the Alfredo di Stéfano Stadium after Spain lifted Tuesday the restrictions on entry by air and sea to passengers from the United Kingdom that were implemented to control the expansion of new variants of the coronavirus.

 


Citizens of the United Kingdom must from now on submitting to the same rules as travelers from the Schengen area, which require them to carry a negative PCR to be able to transit between countries, as the spokesperson clarified in the press conference after the Council of Ministers of the Government, María Jesús Montero.

 

On the contrary, the Executive has chosen to maintain the limitations on flights from Brazil and South Africa to try to avoid the expansion of the variants detected in these countries, which "still have little prevalence in Spain."

 

In this way, it has extended the restrictions for the fourth time, which will take effect from 6:00 p.m. on March 30 to 00:00 a.m. on April 13.

 

The Champions League match is set for April 6, at 9:00 p.m., and therefore, after this measure announced by the Executive; it will be possible to play at the Alfredo di Stéfano de Valdebebas, although the final confirmation by all parties is missing involved.

 

Due to the restrictions applied to travelers from the United Kingdom, Atlético de Madrid had to play the first leg of the round of 16 of the Champions League against Chelsea in Bucharest and Real Sociedad received in the round of 32 of the Europa League to Manchester United in Turin.
